Who is Angela Avery?

I am Angie Avery, the Vice President of Legal Affairs and I focus on risk management for THM.

I earned a BA in English from the University of Mississippi and a JD from the University of Colorado. After graduating from law school, I served for several years as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Avery Brewing Company, Boulder, CO, my family’s brewery. I returned to Oxford, MS to marry my husband and began my 15+ year career with the University of Mississippi Foundation. I served in varying roles in their development office raising critical academic funding. One of my most rewarding professional positions was serving as Executive Director for our local humane society in Oxford. Giving voice to the voiceless and homeless pets was extremely gratifying.

I joined the Tharaldson team in January 2020 — just a month before the coronavirus pandemic hit. What a whirlwind those first few months on the job were! My focus is ensuring our human resources department makes our employees feel like part of a family. We are constantly striving to enhance our employee experience and asking for feedback on areas of improvement. We want all our employees to love their job and continue to grow and advance their hospitality careers at Tharaldson.

A few fun facts about me:

• I enjoy genealogy and have done extensive work on my family tree.

• I love watching television series. The guilty pleasure started many years ago with Mad Men! Some of our favorites include Game of Thrones, Peaky Blinders, Downton Abbey, The Crown, The Handmaid’s Tale, Hell on Wheels, Ozark, Ray Donovan, and Succession.
